Motivational Speaker
A motivational speaker is a speaker that specializes in motivating and uplifting their audiences to achieve the very best they can be. They often engage their audiences in a very interactive and dynamic way and usually speak with a lot of force and enthusiasm. There are some speakers that specialize in certain subjects such as money, sales, real estate, self-improvement and personal development. Others mix all of these together and deliver a motivational message designed to improve the listener's life in all areas.
A motivational speaker may be in business for himself or herself or can be booked through a speaker's bureau. Many are well known and have a great following, and have books and audio programs out as well. Many others specialize in corporate practice and are brought in by companies to pump up a sales force or boost morale. Whatever their role, the speaker will have a powerful message designed to motivate the individual to take some specific action or actions that will result in powerful change or positive reinforcement.
Many speakers command high fees for their presentations, because they are well known and have been presenting a program for many years. They book their own tours and often have seminars that last a week or more which are designed to motivate people into achieving more out of every aspect of their lives. The presentations are usually very high energy, with lots of participation from the audience. The speaker likes to elicit responses from the audience to positive affirmations he is making in his presentation and asks them to confirm it by repeating it back, sometimes very loudly and enthusiastically.
A motivational speaker can be hired by a company or organization if there is an issue with motivation, or if sales have started to lag or if there has been a recent big change in the business that has resulted in people being less motivated. The speaker will often tailor their presentation to the specific circumstances of the company and relate through their own experience how they overcame an obstacle or set goals for themselves which they then achieved. A company may have a set of goals they want their employees to achieve and a speaker can be brought in to provide the motivation necessary to achieve those goals.
Seeing and hearing the presentation of a motivational speaker can be very inspiring and can cause people to take actions in all areas of their lives. That is the job of the speaker, to get people pumped up and enthusiastic about goals they want to achieve, and then have a specific plan to follow which will help them achieve those goals and help keep them motivated as they go through the process. Having goals is one thing. Having the motivation to achieve them and a plan on how to achieve them is the purpose of the speaker.
